Robust II Red Clover 

 

1.  Robust II is adapted to and intended for use in the east central and north central United States. It has been tested in Tennessee and Wisconsin.

2.  Robust II is a diploid medium red clover. Its flower color is 2% red, 10% dark pink, 46% medium pink, 38% light pink, and 4% white. Approximately 80% of the plants exhibit leaf markings, and 94% have hairs on the stems. Robust II has low resistance to northern anthracnose, and resistance to southern anthracnose and powdery mildew. Robust II reaches 50% bloom approximately the same time as Arlington, and 1 day earlier than Marathon in the spring growth of the first year after the seeding year.

3.  Seed increase of Robust II is limited to one generation of breeder (Syn. 1), two generations of foundation (Syn. 2 or 3), and three generations of certified (Syn 2, 3, or 4) classes. Breeder seed was produced in 1995. Length of stand allowed is 2 years each for foundation and certified classes. Production of foundation seed is limited to the northwest United States.

4.  Certified seed will first be offered for sale in 2004.
