1. This variety is adapted to the East Central region. It has been tested in New York and North Carolina. The proposed areas of intended use are East Central, Southeast and Moderately Winter Hardy Intermountain regions. 2. Test variety is moderately fall dormant, similar to FD5 checks. Flower color (Syn 2) is 40% variegated and 60% purple. 3. This variety has high resistance to Bacterial Wilt, Fusarium Wilt, Phytophthora Root Rot, Stem Nematode and Pea Aphid; with resistance to Anthracnose (race 1), Verticillium Wilt and spotted Alfalfa Aphid; and moderate resistance to Aphanomyces Root Rot and Root-Knot Nematode (M. incognita). Blue aphid resistance not tested. 4. Seed increase is on a limited generation basis: Breeder (Syn 1), Foundation (Syn 2), and Certified (Syn 3). Breeder seed was produced in 1998. Breeder and Foundation seed will be maintained by Great Plains Research Company, Inc. Sufficient breeder and foundation seed are available for foreseeable needs. 5. Certified seed will be marketed in 2002. 6. No decision has been made concerning Plant Variety Protection Act. 7. Information in this application may be forwarded to the PVP office. 8.
